Mineral phases of metals in industrial sediments of St. Petersburg rivers with extreme pollution

چکیده
The aim of the research was to determine patterns distribution metals and their main mineral phases in technogenic bottom sediments St. Petersburg watercourses conditions extreme pollution. objects were Yekaterinofka, Okhta, Krasnen'kaya, Smolenka, Karpovka Chernaya Rechka Rivers. Bottom urbanized rivers are characterized by abnormally high concentrations metalloids (TMM). maximum metal content established river corresponds ore concentrations: Cu — 0.487 %, Pb 5.54 Co 0.129 Cd 0.0439 % (0.01–5.0), Ba 6.32 Zn 0.818 %. According Geoaccumulation Index (Igeo), TMMs from moderate severe pollution (Cr, Co, Ni, Zn, As) extremely (Cu, Cd, Sb, Hg). have own geochemical specialization sediments: Okhta River is highest Ba, As, Hg; Ekaterinofka Cr, Mn, Pb, Cd; Smolenka Cu; Red Fe, V, Sc; Ni. Based on method components factor analysis, paragenetic associations identified that indicate sources pollution: production batteries using Sb-Cd-Pb-Co-Mn (Yekaterinofka River) Ni (Karpovka River), paints varnishes Ba-Hg-As-Zn (Okhta processing Cu-Cr (Yekaterinofka, Rivers). Scanning electron micrographs studies showed a variety authigenic minerals, among which barite, hematite, magnetite, goethite primary importance. amount barite formed proportional concentration sediments. There sulfides, framboidal pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, galena. An important feature early diagenetic changes composition under studied shown formation native (Fe, Pb) aggregates complex Cu). This probably one significant mechanisms flow sustainable technogenesis.

Microplastic pollution in St. Lawrence River sediments
Although widely detected in marine ecosystems, microplastic pollution has only recently been documented in freshwater environments, almost exclusively in surface waters. Here, we report microplastics (polyethylene microbeads, 0.40– 2.16 mm diameter) in the sediments of the St. Lawrence River. We sampled 10 freshwater sites along a 320 km section from Lake St. Francis to Québec City by passing s...
متن کاملAssessment of heavy metals pollution indices in sediments of Tiyab and Kolahi International Wetlands
Heavy metals are pollutants from multiple man-made or natural sources which directly or indirectly enter bodies of water. Therefore, investigation of deposits as metal contaminants is important. The international wetlands of Tiyab and Kolahi are among the most important ecosystems in the south of Iran that due to development programs are polluted by different sources. In order to identify envir...

Background and Aim:This research was conducted of determining and comparing the heavy metals of zinc, iron, manganese, copper, nickel and vanadium in summer in waters and sediments of Naseri wetland in Khuzestan province, 2017. Material and Methods:Sampling of water and sediments from three areas of north, central and southern Naseri wetland was carried out in summer. In order to measure heavy...
متن کاملArea-Specification affected by Industrial-Mineral Pollution in Isfahan Province
Air pollution is a consequence of human activities, especially in the period after industrial revolution, which has many (direct and indirect) effects on the human and the environment around him. Among different kinds of pollutions, those related to industries and mines are much more dangerous. Therefore, it is necessary to identify these pollutions and specify them so as to reduce the harmful ...
متن کاملAssessment of Heavy Metals Pollution in Water and Sediments of Djendjen River, North Eastern Algeria
Water and sediment samples have been collected from five different stations, located along Djendjen River between February and June, 2016 so that the concentrations of Cd, Ni, Zn, and Cu could be determined. The extent of the sediment pollution has been assessed, using the multiple pollution indices, namely Contamination Factor (CF), Pollution Load Index (PLI), and the geoaccumulation index (Ig...
